Radhika Gupta: Women with a broken neck builds a ₹300 Billion Mutual fund house and now appointed as vice chairman of Amfi

What do you do when you have broken neck? Your life may seem miserable because you may feel like you are missing out on so many things you are unable to do.

This is the story of a woman with a broken neck, who was born with a disability. We are talking about Radhika Gupta who is now a CEO of ₹300 Billion Mutual fund house in India.

Radhika was born in Pakistan and did her schooling from an International school in Nigeria. She was born with a broken neck which left her neck with a permanent tilt. It’s easy to feel sorry for yourself when you’re disabled and to blame your disability when you run into adversities.

But according to her, It’s is all about attitude! If you concentrate on what you do have instead of what you don’t have, you are setting yourself up to become a happy person. Be thankful for what you have; don’t be bitter for what you don’t have!

She believes that having a positive attitude is the foundation for being a happy person regardless of whether you are disabled or not. I truly believe keeping a bright outlook on life after my disabling accident is what has allowed me to live a good life.

Despite having broken neck, Radhika is probably one of the most accomplished and happiest people in the world. One can only imagine the challenges she faced throughout her life.

But, She never gave up and instead turned her limitations into opportunities.

Now at the age of 36, She has already set up India’s first domestic hedge fund and become India’s Women icon motivating millions of women from all walks of life. In 2017, She became CEO of Edelweiss Asset Management Company. When she took over asset under managament increases upto ₹ 8000 crores.

Her success is a powerful reminder of women’s true sphere of influence in relationships, home, volunteerism, business and community. With the princely sum of 2.5 million rupees, Radhika and her husband along with her colleagues decided to start Forefront Capital Management Company in India.

She believes there is a purpose in the struggles we encounter in our lives and that our attitude towards those struggles along with our faith can be the keys to overcoming the challenges we face.

Plight of Women Entrepreneurs In India:

Although the definition of an Entrepreneur, “One who undertakes to conduct an enterprise assuming full control and risk.” is not gender specific, it is no wonder that around 86% Entrepreneurs in India are men.

Because women in India tends to undertake the greater share of raising children and keeping the house together, many women simply do not have the time to start a business!

Indian women who always was termed as someone to be always engulfed in the shadows of father, husband or son has now created a niche of her own, an overturn of faces, dictating the male subordinates in the corporate sector.

But Higher education, change in mindset of older generation and more open minded upbringing has changed the scenario in India..

Lots of woman belonging to middle class society, who had never thought of even stepping out of there houses, have achieved something through which they could make there male relatives and eventually the country proud.

But the war has not totally won yet. A lot has still to be accomplished. Indian woman needs to be strong enough to understand the strength potential within her self.

With women generating more new start-ups, women entrepreneurs in India have increased upto 14% which is still low if you compare it with western countries. As a result, women are seeking more opportunities to grow their network and enhance their support systems.

That’s why Indian government must promotes and fosters the success of women entrepreneurs in India and helps them define and achieve success on their own terms.
